Weekend Warrior on the Golf Course

Hook, slice, draw, fade -- I'm not referring to fishing or a birthday party or even some kind of fancy haircut; I'm talking about golf; and down here in south Florida golf is king. Seems like everywhere you go regardless of where it is, go a tad bit further and you'll run into a few acres of plush green fields. Golf courses are ramped down here, and there are although much of the nicer ones are closed to the public, there are a few that welcome the public to come on in and try their luck.
To give you an idea of just how important this game is to the rising population of FLA, there are over 1,000 golf courses in the state, and some of the best are right here in our piece of the peninsula. Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties are a golfers paradise.
Now that the summer months -- or should I say the low season as just about everyday down here resembles a day that would occupy the summer time -- the prices are reasonable to go out on the links. Prices range anywhere from $19 - $45 and that is just about in my personal wheel house. Now is the time that most, if not all, of my golf is played.
The high season comes around quickly, and during a time when you would want to go out and play, that is its not an oven outside, the prices rise very quickly. All of a sudden courses that were charging $25 to go out and challenge the course, charge up to four-times that amount. The rise in prices makes me hide my golf clubs until the prices are more reasonable.
I wish that I did pick up a more financial friendly past time, but golf has been one my favorite hobbies for close to 25 years and I don't see myself changing now. Want to get in on the fun? There are a lot of schools available at a reasonable fee to teach you the way to play this game.
